The New Mariscal Sucre International Airport of Quito is located approximately 23km (direct distance) to the east of Quito in the Tababela district. The new airport will become operational on Wednesday the 20th of February 2013 at 09:00 and the old international airport will close its operations the evening before (19th of February 2013) at 19:00. In the 14 hours that follow, the final pieces will be transported and installed at the new airport.

The new terminal has 60 check-in counters and a designated area for the Galapagos check-in process. There are ample restrooms, comfortable gate lounges and waiting areas. Initially there will be over 900m2 of duty free shopping and more than 20 commercial stores including restaurants, news agents and souvenir shops. There is also a business lounge which will be accessible for a fee of US$ 20.
In the second half of the year 2013, a shopping center will open which will be connected to the terminal building.
Andean Travel Company continues offering private transfers to and from the new Airport, as well as, transfer combinations with the express bus service. With the combination option, our transport will take you from the hotel to the station of the Express shuttle, your ticket will be issued already and passengers can directly board the shuttle bus to the New Airport. This would be a suitable option for passengers who prefer a more economic option for travel between the Airport and the city. (more information, please ask your account manager)
Public bus to the new airport with stops. These depart from the Rio Coca bus station in the north east of Quito.
The price for this service will be US$ 2 per route.
Express Airport Bus
Executive bus service departing from the old airport in Quito. This service goes directly to the new airport without stops. The buses are equipped with GPS, WiFi Internet and guides. This service is offered every 30 minutes, 24 hours per day and 365 days per year. During peak air-traffic hours, buses will be offered every 20 minutes.
Tickets can be purchased online and also at booths of both airports. The price for this service will be US$ 8 per route. On this service you will be allowed to take 1 piece of luggage up to 23kg, and one piece of hand luggage. For additional luggage, there is a surcharge of US$ 2 and for over sized luggage the surcharge is US$ 2,50.
Taxis operating from the new airport to other parts of the city will offer their service through a purchase-of-tickets system with set rates depending on the passenger’s destination. These values remain to be defined and published.
From Quito: taxis with permission from the airport will operate with predefined rates from various city zones. Fees still to be defined and confirmed by the Municipality.
The estimated price for a taxi ride from the city to the new airport is US$ 25 – 40
private cars or vans will take passengers to the airport terminal without paying tolls or fees, unless they use the parking lot services at the new airport.
An airport tax increase has been implemented for use of the new International Airport of Quito. For national flights, the tax increase will be: US$ 8,17 and for international flights, the tax increase will be: US$ 15.86. Tickets issued after February the 5th 2013 already include this tax, however, tickets issued before this date do not. Passengers traveling through the new airport with a ticket that does not include the new airport tax, will have to pay the difference at the check-in counter. Some airlines may accept credit card payments, but others will only accept cash payments. We recommend passengers to take sufficient cash to be on the safe side and avoid delays during the check-in process.
